Universal Remote Privacy Policy
Universal Remote (the "app") turns your phone or tablet into a remote control for the smart TVs and streaming devices on your Wi-Fi network. It is published by Invikta Technology ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles, why, and the choices you have. Contact: help@reportking.app.
Summary
- The app has no user accounts and shows no ads. We don't sell your data and don't track you across other apps or websites.
- Controlling your TV happens on your local network, between your device and your TV. We don't receive what you watch, type on the TV, or cast.
- We use a few service providers for analytics, crash reports, subscriptions and customer support. They process data on our behalf.
- You can ask us at any time to access or delete data about you.
Data that stays on your device
To work, the app stores these things on your device only. We never receive them:
- Your TVs: names, models, local IP and hardware (MAC) addresses of the TVs found on your network, your room names, shortcuts, theme and other settings.
- Pairing credentials: the tokens or keys your TVs give the app when you allow the connection. They are stored encrypted and excluded from device backups.
- What you send to your TV: remote button presses, text typed with the app's keyboard, and photos or videos you choose to cast. They go directly from your device to your TV over your local network.
Voice search
When you use voice search, your device's own speech recognition service (Apple Speech on iPhone and iPad, the speech service of your Android device, usually Google) turns your voice into text, which the app then types on your TV. That service may process the audio under its provider's privacy policy. The app asks for microphone and speech permissions only when you first use voice search, and we never receive your audio or the text.
Local network access
The app looks for TVs on your Wi-Fi network (local network discovery) and connects to them directly. On iPhone and iPad this needs the Local Network permission. The results are used only to show and control your TVs.
Data we collect
| Data | Why | Provider |
|---|---|---|
| App usage events (screens opened, features used, the type of TV connected), app version, device model, operating system version, language, approximate country or region derived from the IP address | Understand how the app is used and improve it | Google Firebase Analytics |
| Crash reports and diagnostics (stack traces, device model, OS version, app state at the time of the crash) | Find and fix bugs | Google Firebase Crashlytics |
| Random identifiers: an anonymous user ID created by the app, Firebase installation and app-instance IDs | Keep your subscription status and settings consistent, deliver app configuration, count users without knowing who they are | Google Firebase (Authentication, Remote Config), RevenueCat |
| Subscription and purchase history: product, price, dates, renewal and trial status, store transaction identifiers | Unlock Pro, restore purchases, handle renewals and refunds | RevenueCat, together with the Apple App Store or Google Play |
| Support requests you send: your email address, your message, photos you choose to attach, device model, OS version, app version, the TV brand and model you select, and, only if you turn on "share network details", your TVs' hardware (MAC) addresses (and on iPhone, your Wi-Fi network name) | Answer your request and troubleshoot connection problems | Our support server, Crisp (live chat) |
| Live chat conversations: messages, your email address if you give it, and basic device information | Customer support | Crisp |
Payments are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive your card or bank details.
How we use data
- To provide the app and its features, including Pro subscriptions.
- To answer support requests.
- To measure usage, fix crashes and improve the app.
- To prevent fraud and abuse of purchases, and to comply with legal obligations.
Our legal bases, where the GDPR applies: performance of our contract with you (providing the app and subscriptions), our legitimate interests (analytics, crash reporting, security), your consent (voice search permissions, optional support details), and legal obligations (accounting records).
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers listed above, which process it on our behalf under their own terms and security measures:
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Authentication, Remote Config): firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- RevenueCat (subscriptions): revenuecat.com/privacy
- Crisp (live chat): crisp.chat/en/privacy
- Apple and Google, when you buy or manage a subscription through their stores.
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our rights and users' safety. We don't sell or rent personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
Retention
- Analytics data: kept for up to 14 months, then deleted or aggregated.
- Crash reports: kept for up to 90 days.
- Support requests and chats: kept as long as needed to help you, then deleted within 24 months of your last message.
- Purchase records: kept as long as required for accounting and tax obligations.
- Data stored only on your device is removed when you delete the app.
Your choices and rights
- You can use the app without contacting support, and support details such as photos and network details are optional.
- You can turn off microphone, speech recognition or local network access at any time in your device settings. The related features then stop working.
- You can ask us to access, correct, export or delete data about you, or object to its use, by writing to help@reportking.app. We may ask for information to find your data (for example the email you used for support). Because the app has no accounts, analytics data is linked only to random identifiers.
- Depending on where you live (for example the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Apple ID or Google Play settings.
Security
Data sent to our providers travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Pairing credentials are encrypted on your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The effective date above shows the latest version. For important changes we will give notice in the app or on this page.
